Fire crews from three stations have been praised for their quick work putting out a blaze after a bailer went up in flames on farm land near Devizes.

Firefighters from Devizes, Pewsey and Melksham were called to Allington on Saturday. Farmers Nick and James Oram praised their work and thanked them for getting there so quickly.

A spokesman for Devizes fire station said: "On a hot and humid afternoon we were mobilised to a field fire along with Melksham and Pewsey Fire Station's water carrier to Allington.

"The fire originally started in a bailer whilst at work. Two bails were alight.The bailer was towed to some hardstanding to prevent further fire spread and extinguished using two hose reel jets."
