Emergency services rushed to the beach after a child injured their leg, but couldn't find them.

Lyme Regis Coastguard team were called just before 11am yesterday (Thursday) to Monmouth Beach to help the ambulance service.

A spokesman for Lyme Regis Coastguard said: "Our colleagues from Beer Coastguard team were also tasked in case the casualty required a lengthy stretcher carry from the beach.

"Upon arrival, we spent some time trying to locate the casualty and the ambulance as all we had was a postcode.

"Whilst searching, we were informed that the casualty had been taken to hospital by a family member and all response units were stood down.

"If you do call the emergency services and if you are able, please make yourself known to them so that they can help straightaway.

"Stay safe on the coast this summer."
