AN ELDERLY man has sadly died in hospital more than three weeks after he was hit by a car.

A 78-year-old pedestrian was involved in a collision with a Ford Fiesta in Gillingham.

It happened on Marlott Road at about 2.45pm on Monday, July 13.

The man sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital for treatment. He very sadly died on the evening of Wednesday, August 5. His family has been informed and is being supported by officers from Dorset Police. The driver of the Ford was uninjured.

Police Sergeant Nikki Burt, of the serious collision investigation team, said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“We are continuing to investigate this incident and would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to please get in touch.”
