The fire at the stable block in Clayhanger in mid-Devon broke out in the early hours of this morning.
Police, ambulance and fire services attended the incident.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called at 1.51am and sent a fire engine from Bampton, one from Wellington and a water foam carrier from Danes Castle.
The ambulance service was requested and a woman was treated on scene for smoke inhalation.
Police also attended the fire - as the cause was believed to be deliberate.
The fire crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
