A small entry contained a high proportion of excellent quality butchers’ beasts but trade for all was on fire and many more could have been sold.
Super heifers again this week from Messrs. Julian of Summercourt standing top with a pair of Limousins hitting 225p/kg, purchased by Chris Dale of Dales Family Butchers, Helston and R.J. Trevarthen Ltd of Roskrow.
The third Limousin x from Mr. Julian at 221p/kg stood overall top value heifer realising £1,244 to David Wilton of Peter Morris Butchers, St. Columb.
A further entry of Limousin crosses from Miss S.P. Gribble of Lanner hit a premium of 218p/kg with her heaviest 712kg heifer top value at £1,460, both bought by R.J. Trevarthen Ltd.

A superb entry containing a large proportion of single-suckled steers and heifers including 34 from Nicholls & Co. of Sandy Lane, Redruth selling to a wonderful trade with no shortage of demand with many buyers going home empty.
Top price steer just shy of the £1,400 barrier at £1,390 was a superb Charolais at just 20 months old.
No shortage of demand and more could be sold to advantage.
Aberdeen Angus x steers to £1,075 also for Mr. Dale and £1,170 for Nicholls & Co. whose nice Simmental x steers sold to £1,040 at 16 months old.
Charolais x steers for Messrs. J. & S. Trembath of Zennor sold to £1,055 with four younger 16-month old steers at £905.
On the heifer side, Nicholls & Co. had some super prices with a top of £1,150 for a 22 month old Charolais x, with other breeds from the same farm seeing a younger South Devon & Limousin x pair at 14 months old make £865.
