Young farmers across Cornwall have shown the excellence of their livestock in an online show run by Cornwall YFC.

The first ever Cornwall YFC Online Livestock Show received more than 180 entries at the end of June.

Kelly Evans, Cornwall YFC county organiser, said: "We don't usually do livestock shows but thought we'd give it a go. We're trying to keep members involved during lockdown and give them something to do.

"We have seen a wonderful display of stock over the past week. The judges had a really tough job placing all sections - there were photos of outstanding animals which made judging extremely difficult. There are beautiful class winners and very well deserved section winners.

"There are certainly some handsome strong beasts residing on our Cornish farms! We are lucky to have some of Cornwall's finest dairy cows and so many fantastic sheep entered - from pet lambs to impressive rams - and nearly 40 entries of horses jumping or looking handsome, pretty and beautifully turned out."

There were beef, dairy, sheep and horse classes for the YFC members, ex-YFC members and the cutest of classes, the young handlers aged 10 and under.

Entrants submitted two photos per animal to show the animal at its best. Members, supporters and friends then voted for the best in sections winners via the Cornwall YFC Facebook page.

Kelly said: "Thank you to everyone who entered the Cornwall YFC Online Livestock Show - to have 180 entries is absolutely amazing and it has been wonderful to see such quality stock being shown.

"Thank you to Cornish Mutual for sponsoring the competitions and to our four judges for carefully placing all the entries.

"Huge congratulations to you all!"
