PLANS to build a new supermarket, retail units and health centre in Williton have been resubmitted this week.

J. Gliddon and Sons Ltd. has put forward new plans for the redevelopment of land off the A39 Bank Street in Williton, behind its existing store.

J. Gliddon and Sons’ existing shop will be demolished to create the access road, with the company expected to occupy a new unit fronting onto Bank Street once the mini-roundabout has been built.

The applicants successfully fought an appeal against West Somerset Council in 2017, after the local authority argued the supermarket would damage the high street retail offer.

The application is identical to the previous one apart from an amendment to the pedestrian link onto Fore Street to avoid impacting Lloyds Bank.
