One of Falmouth's primary schools is to be given an upgrade.
St Francis School at Longfield has been given conditional approval to replace an existing modular building with a permanent classroom block and entrance canopy.
This will contain two classrooms, cloakrooms and toilets, with the entrance canopy becoming the main entrance to the school.
In her report, Cornwall Council planning officer Laura Potts said: "The existing building is well used and is in poor condition."
She added that while it would result in the loss of five parking spaces in the school car park, the school had confirmed these spaces were purely used for school staff and visitors, not school drop off and collection.
When the existing modular hut was taken away, five spaces would be created on this land for specific occasions such as training days and evening events.
The school said in its application: "The headteacher stresses that this is an upgrade, rather than expansion, hence the desire to obtain grant funding towards the upgraded facilities."
