Teenagers having a party in the dunes at Perranporth lit a bonfire and left smashed glass in the sand.

This is the warning from Perranporth Fire Station this morning, following the incident late last night.

A spokesperson for the station said Critical Control had initially received a call reporting a fire in the dunes near Ramoth Way.

Two crews from Perranporth Community Fire Station headed out to investigate, using their Light 4x4 Pump (L4P) for access over the soft terrain.

The spokesperson said: "The parish CCTV system was used to guide the crews in - a bonfire was discovered along with a group of teenagers.

"The fire was extinguished and strong words of advice were given."

It has also prompted a safety warning for anyone planning to visit the beach and dunes today.

"Please be mindful if you’re walking in the area this morning, approximately 100 metres down the dunes from the end of Ramoth Way, as there is broken glass and empty beer bottles.

"We intend to revisit and clear up their rubbish this morning," added the station spokesperson.

UPDATE: Three volunteers armed with gloves and bin bags have since cleared the mess and made the area safe again.
