A BRIDGWATER couple have been overwhelmed by the positive responses after they streamed their lockdown wedding vow renewal ceremony online.

Sam and Michelle Pattenden live in Woodbury Road, Bridgwater and decided to make their 22nd wedding anniversary on Tuesday (May 12) one to remember.

Michelle explained that their 10-year-old daughter Melody had talked about how she wished she could have been at our wedding, so she was given the task of helping organise a vow renewal in lockdown.

"Our 18-year-old son Max was the minister, our the 13-year-old son Callum gave me away and Melody was the flower girl," Mrs Pattenden said.

"We had a cake made which was the only expense so the whole thing cost £15!"

Michelle and Sam originally got married in Barbados in 1998, and they tried to keep as much of the ceremony as possible like the original, including the cake and the music.

"Although I couldn't fit into my original wedding dress I did wear my original jewellery, and we tried to make so the bride and groom did not see each other beforehand, although it was a bit tricky!" Michelle added.

The family streamed the ceremony on Facebook so family and friends could watch, and they were overwhelmed by the response.

"We asked our guests to send a selfie of them raising a toast so that Melody can put in an album, and some of the 'guests' even dressed up for the occasion," Mrs Pattenden said.

"We read our own vows, cut the cake, raised a toast and even had our first dance again.

"It was a truly magical day - to be surrounded by our children in our own home but to feel so much love coming through from everyone watching was magical and absolutely perfect."
