Whether it’s over the phone or via video calling, the Mole Valley Farmers team are on hand to offer support to farmers during the coronavirus lockdown.

Movement restrictions might make it impossible for the team to get on to farm, but they can still provide advice remotely.

Depending on individual farmer preference, that could mean a simple phone chat or setting up a video call via Skype or WhatsApp, for example.

Farmers could then choose to take their advisor on a virtual “farm tour,” says technical manager, Scott Carter.

He said: “We can walk the cows virtually with you and assess cow body condition.

"We can also send out forage analysis kits so you can stay on top of silage quality. We can then use this information to make adjustments to cow diets.

“During such a challenging time, we just want to assure farmers that we’re just a phone call away if you need advice or to place an order. We can also carry out a weekly review of your business’s margin over purchased feed - something which is vital in light of milk and feed price fluctuations.”
