A NEW farmers market is set to launch in Lyme Regis this summer.

The market will take place on the last Friday of each month from 9am to 2pm, starting in June.

It is being organised by Lyme Regis Development Trust and aims to bring together local producers, makers and growers to create a ‘diverse and fantastic shopping experience’.

Cleo Cobb of Lyme Regis Development Trust said the idea for the new market came from Jon Doody, the curator of Lyme Regis Fossil Festival.

She explained: “It was his idea, he is a keen producer of bacon and cured meats. He’s always looking for an opportunity to show people what he does.

“Nothing exists in Lyme Regis at the moment and we want to do a summer and winter market.

“The summer market will be held at the Marine Parade and the winter market will move to the Hub.

“I think it will be well received, it’s a good opportunity, there’s a lot of local talent and expertise in this part of the world.

“There are markets in Honiton, Dorchester and Sherborne, but there’s nothing here.”

If you’re interested in becoming one of the vendors and your product is produced within a 20-mile radius of Lyme Regis, then fill out an application form.

Application forms can be found on the Lyme Regis Development Trust website.
