One of the best quality store cattle entries of the year saw 16 cattle over £1,000 and an extremely lively trade for all ages with plenty of demand from around the ring.
A lovely run of 20 South Devon stores being either 2 year old or 1 year old from Mr. T.G. Hawke of Colan topped the day at £1,095 for the leading pair of steers with heifer pairs to £1,040.
Next dearest were five super Limousin x steers around 19 months old from Mr. R.E. Richards of St. Keverne at £1,065 apiece.
Ten Limousin x yearlings from Messrs. T.A. & F.A. Jenkin of Newbridge hit £910 for his best bunch of four steers.
Mr. Hawke’s South Devon yearlings saw steers to £865 for four, next four at £850 and four best heifers to £775.

The heavier 48kg pen from Mr. D.J. Lobb of Little Polgooth, St. Austell realised £110 (229p/kg) to J.V. Richards Ltd of Perranwell Station.

A good number of hogs forward and strong prices prevail.
Heavier weights were particularly sought after, topping £123 for a butcher’s quality heavyweight Texel hog from Master T. Blake of St. Stephen bought by J.V. Richards Ltd.
This was closely followed by a blocky Beltex pair from Miley-Rose Withers of Probus selling at £122.50 to R.J. Trevarthen Ltd with 39.5kg hogs from the same farm for Ellie-May Withers achieving a premium of 249p/kg to H.R. Jasper & Son Ltd of Launceston.
With the entry containing more lighter hogs than recent weeks, the overall average still reached £104.50!
