The closing date is nearing for nominations for the Duke of Cornwall’s Farm Diversification Award.

The Duke of Cornwall’s Award celebrates innovation and diversification within the agricultural community. The award is presented to farms based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, which have developed successful enterprises in addition to their main agricultural activities.

The winner will receive a £1,000 cash prize and a signed certificate provided by His Royal Highness The Duke of Cornwall which will be presented during the Royal Cornwall Show, taking place between June 4-6.

Previous winners have been farming enterprises that have used their resources, expertise and knowledge to develop successful businesses and community projects which run in harmony with their core farming activities.

An impressive range of projects have been celebrated in the past, including a cheese producer, an events venue, and education providers.

Last year's winners, the Roberts family, have farmed at Trenoweth Farm for over 50 years, but in the mid-1990s set up a day-care facility for adults with learning difficulties.

Nominations for the 2020 award are currently being welcomed for any applicable organisations, businesses and individuals. You can nominate or be nominated if you have been in the past, but previous winners cannot enter.

Nominations close on March 1 2020.
