Good trades all round. Prime to 200.5ppk and £1,223.69, Cows to 149.5ppk and £1,263.53, Hoggs to 238.18ppk and £131.00.

(40) UTM & (15) OTM Prime Cattle. Auctioneer’s Comments:

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a very short entry of 55 Prime Cattle met a very strong trade.

Top was 200.5ppk for a very shapely, leaner red Limousin steer from CA Retallack, Brompton Regis, who sold shapely, very lean red Limousin steer at 187.5ppk, a similar more fleshed red Limousin steer at 187ppk, a shapely, very lean black Parthenaise steer at 181.5ppk, a very shapely fleshed Blonde at 177.5ppk and a good Blue at 177ppk. Smart Limousin steer (FA) at 185.5ppk from GI Ware, Skilgate. Similar smart Blue (FA) at 177ppk from FG, C & E Tucker, Mudgley.

Native steers rose to 172ppk from CA Retallack again.

Steers sold to £1,218.26 for a 723kg Limousin (FA) from GI Ware. Continental steers at £1,189.32 (Lim) £1,169.55 (Lim) £1,157.30 (Blonde) £1,132.50 (Lim) £1,127.49 (Blue) who also sold an Angus at £1,124.24. Further Angus (FA) at £1,123.60 from JR Dill & Son.

Heifers peaked at 191.5ppk for a very smart red Limousin (FA) from H & JL Parker, Stourton. Further Limousin heifer (FA) at 186ppk from G Sloman, Taunton. Shapely Blue at 184.5ppk from CA Retallack again, who also sold quality red Limousins at 184.5, 184, 179.5 and 178.5ppk. Well fleshed Blue (FA) at 178ppk from TE Pocock & Co, Stringston, who also sold a well fleshed Charolais at 177ppk.

Heifers sold to the days top of £1,223.69 for the best type Limousin (FA) from H & JL Parker. Limousin at £1,134.60 from G Sloman and further Limousins at £1,129.06 and £1,095.99 from CA Retallack again.

41 Barren Cows and Cull Stock Bulls. Auctioneer’s Comments:

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a very, very short entry of cull cattle met a cracking trade. Top was 149.5ppk for a top drawer pedigree Limousin cow from H & JL Parker, Stourton, who sold another similar at 143.5ppk. Bazadaise at 130.5ppk from K Proctor, Dunkeswell. South Devon cow at 124.5ppk, LR House, Dunwear. Hereford cows at 124.5ppk from DJ Toogood, Langford Budville and 121.5ppk from CG & C Vigar, Curry Rivel.

Sucklers sold to £1,216.93 from H & JL Parker, who sold another at £1,024.59. South Devon at £1,043.31 from LR House.

Dairy breeds sold exceptionally well to 139.5ppk for a proper Friesian from GW & GM Long & Son, Chardstock, who sold another at 127.5ppk. Further Friesian cows at 127.5ppk from JM & JM Baker, Glastonbury; 117.5, AA House & Son, Glastonbury and 115.5ppk DJ Bray, Parracombe. Holsteins at 125.5ppk, DC Dennis & Son Ltd, Ivybridge; 124.5ppk, JR Dill & Son, Cheddon Fitzpaine and 116.5ppk, CJ & AJ Herrod, Highbridge. Swedish Red at 124.5ppk PJLS Farms Ltd, Bridgwater, who also had a Montbeliarde at 121.5ppk.

Dairy breeds sold to £1,263.53 for a Friesian from GW & GM Long & Son, who sold another at £1,215.05. Further Friesian at £1,009.80 from JM & JM Baker. Holsteins at £1,044.56 from JR Dill & Son and £907.37 from DC Dennis & Son Ltd. Montbeliarde at £979.29 and Swedish Red at £911.34, both from PJLS Farms Ltd.

1192 Finished Hoggs. Auctioneer’s Comments:

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a similar entry of 1192 hoggs sold to another flying trade for all presented. The best handyweights sold to 264 and 251ppk from AJ Willcox. Others 251 and 243ppk from Spring Farm Partners; 250ppk from GW King; 249 and 245ppk from Manor Farm Partners; 248ppk from AJ & WL Turner Ltd; 246ppk from LF & JM Heywood and RB Cox; 241ppk from Arscott Partners and 240ppk from RR Creed & Son and M Heal.

Heavier hoggs sold to £131 (2x) £121 and £118 from J Sprake & Partners; £123.50 from MB & CJN Ayre; £121 from AF & RD Tucker & Sons; £120 from RJ & LA Mitchell & Voke (2x) BB Akerman, RR Creed & Son and M & J Case and £118 from RB Cox and GW King. Overall average £108.90
