Top price per kilo was 184p for a Limousin x heifer from Messrs. W.S. Gay & Son of St. Allen purchased by R.J. Trevarthen Ltd of Roskrow.

A nice pair of Limousin x steers from Messrs. M.D. Curtis & Son of Gunwalloe sold to a top call of 175p/kg to David King of Exeter with the heavier 759kg steer top value realising £1,313 to R.J. Trevarthen Ltd.

Setting the premium at 139p/kg was a smart South Devon x cow from Mr. I.C. Lobb of St. Ewe purchased by Messrs. Rapson of Tavistock.

Also selling well a trio of big Limousin x cows from Mr. R.T. Hallowell of Lowertown, with the heaviest weighing 902kg achieving £1,055 to David King of Exeter.

SPECIAL SALE OF IN-LAMB BREEDING EWES (100)

This week’s market included a genuine flock dispersal of 100 Texel x in-lamb ewes on behalf of Paul and Joy Eggins of St. Breock, Wadebridge.

The sale comprised an excellent run of big-framed ewes which were a credit to the vendors.

The ewes met keen bidding especially for the big strong older ewes with the majority of the flock 6T and over, all scanned in-lamb to Texel and Charollais rams and due from February 20.
