A 26-year-old man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was discovered in farm buildings, writes Rod Minchin.

Luigi Palmas will appear before magistrates in Exeter, accused of killing Katherine Bevan, 53, who was found dead on a farm in Gittisham, near Honiton, Devon, on the evening of January 3.

A post-mortem examination was completed at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital on January 18 and a murder inquiry was launched as a result.

Police did not confirm the cause of death but said Ms Bevan's next of kin have been informed.

"Luigi Palmas, 26, of no fixed abode, has been charged with the murder of 53-year-old Katherine Bevan," a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said on Wednesday, January 22.

"Palmas has also been charged with a further count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in connection with an incident in Exeter on January 20.

"He is due to appear before Exeter Magistrates' Court today."
