Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an increased entry of 135 Prime Cattle met another buoyant trade, without the highs of last week as the better end were not up to the quality of last week’s.

Top was 196.5ppk for a very shapely red Limousin heifer from PJ Hobbs, Minehead, who sold suckler bred Charolais heifers at 187.5, 184.5 (2x) and 183ppk (2x). A smart black Limousin heifer from MJ Tuckett & Partners, Exeter, rose to 190.5ppk, who also sold a shapely grey Charolais at 187.5ppk. Very well finished dairy bred Limousin at 187ppk from W Johnson, Dalwood, who sold another at 181.5ppk. Better heifers generally 180ppk plus.

Steers rose to 194.5ppk for a well fleshed Blue from MP & DM Hine, Chard, who sold others similar at 186.5 and 186ppk and a well covered Charolais at 191ppk. Good, very lean suckler bred Limousin at 188ppk from D & K Ware, Skilgate. Feeding dairy Charolais to 183ppk from JPT Reed & Son, Colyton.

Steers sold to £1,342.25 for a 826kg Blue from JM Cload & Partners, Westport, who sold others at £1,327.31 and £1,316.26. 677kg Blue at £1,316.77 from MP & DM Hine, Chard.

Heifers rose to £1,252.35 for a grand 690kg Limousin from W Johnson & Son, who sold another (640kg) at £1,196.80. 697kg Charolais at £1,244.15 from RE Webber, Stringston. 658 to 682kg Blue heifers at £1,190.09, £1,173.93 and £1,151.50 from D Curtis, Street. 703kg Limousin at £1,188.07 from RC Rowe & Son, Upottery. Further Blues at £1,158.08 (658kg) and £1,144.28 (627kg) from MP & DM Hine; 648kg Limousin at £1,156.68 from G Sloman, Taunton.

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report another tight entry of 64 Cull Cattle met a fast trade again.

Top was 158.5ppk for a young Angus cross cow (32m) from NW & SE Legg, South Perrott. Further fleshed Angus cross cows at 124.5ppk, DK Weech, Upottery and 120.5 and 117.5ppk, AC House & Son, Thornfalcon. Devon cross sold to 127.5ppk from PH & ME Buckingham & Son, Brompton Regis.

Continental cows rose to 119.5ppk for a very lean feeding Limousin (66m) from R Godwin, Holsworthy, who sold a very lean feeding Blonde at 114.5ppk. Fleshed Charolais at 117.5ppk, Longcroft Farm, Weston Super Mare and fleshed Blue at the same monies from DK Weech, Upottery. Very lean red Limousin at 114.5ppk from JA & G Aldworth, Madford.

Sucklers sold to £944.66 for the Angus from NW & SE Legg & Sons. Best sucklers £900 plus.

Dairy breeds rose to 123.5ppk for a very well fleshed Holstein from MM & EH Lucas, Puckington, who sold others at 121.5, 120.5 and 115.5ppk. Good meat Holsteins at 119.5, 117.5 and 115.5ppk from AJ & WL Turner Ltd, Chard. Swedish cow 117.5ppk from JA & K Ladd, Ilminster. Montbeliarde cow 114.5ppk from R & J Cottey, Honiton. Meat cows to 110 to 113.5ppk. Warm steakers 100ppk plus.

Dairy breeds sold to £1,052.21 for a Holstein from MM & EH Lucas, who sold others at £1,050.98, £1,047.28 and £1,017.02. 931kg Holstein at £1,028.76 from CJ & JA Reed, Bridgwater.

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report more hoggs forward at 1102 head sold to an easier trade for all presented. The best sold to 210 and 202ppk from S Conio. Others 207ppk from RG Stitch; 205 and 200ppk from R & A Rabbetts; 203ppk from MJ Ashman; 202ppk (2x) from C Boundy; 202 and 200 (2x) from DA & AP Gillbard; 201ppk from DP Leaney and 200ppk from Messrs Urch.

Heavier hoggs sold to £101 from DEJ Rainey. Others £100, £99 and £98 from J Sprake & Partners; £98.50 from MJ Patch; £96 from GJ Warren Farming and WGF Chave & Son and £95 from RR Creed & Son. Overall average £87.68.
