Callestick Farm’s 30th anniversary in 2019 was the company’s most successful business year to date, bosses have confirmed.

Not only did the ice cream manufacturer achieve a 24.8 per cent increase in turnover, it also secured a major five-year export contract to China, agreed a collaboration with celebrity culinary entrepreneur Levi Roots, launched a new ice-cream in partnership with St Piran pro-cycling team and won a raft of awards.

These included prestigious product accolades in the Great Taste, Great British Food, Chef’s Choice and Taste of the West awards and being named Family Business of the Year in the Western Morning News Business Awards.

Angela and Sebastian Parker started making ice cream on their farm near Truro in 1989 as a way of counteracting the negative commercial effects brought about by the introduction of milk quotas.

Three decades later the Callestick brand has established a reputation that has seen a continual and significant growth in its market share.

As part of its expansion plans, highly experienced sales director David Jeffs joined the company board as its first non-family member in 2018.

“We’re delighted with our year-end results and are looking forward to another 12 months of sustained expansion,” said David.

“2019 proved a landmark year for us in many ways and there are more very exciting developments in the pipeline.

“The quality of our dairy and non-dairy ice cream is of course key to everything we do. That’s why all the awards we’ve been winning is so important and why we are committed to creating new lines and new great tastes - alongside our existing favourites of course.

“I’m very confident that Callestick Farm’s fourth decade will prove ever more momentous.”

Last year also saw the refurbishment of Callestick’s on-site tea room, which will reopen in April.
