A farm site near West Knighton is asking permission to use a paddock as a camp site for the summer months, writes Trevor Bevins.

The Higher Lewell Farmhouse site at Hardy’s Row proposes to have seven bell tents and one yurt for a maximum of 60 days during the summer on a 0.3 hectare paddock.

The site has been used for the last three summers for up to 28 days under permitted development rights and is popular with families.

The application to Dorset Council also asks for a temporary toilet and shower block which will be located on existing concrete slabs within a former livestock area at the western end of the site near the farmhouse.

The application says there will be no outside lighting.

Comments on the application remain open until December 31.
