Lodge & Thomas reported an entry of 55 UTM and OTM prime cattle, 47 cull cows and bulls, 108 store cattle including three suckler cows and calves, 97 rearing calves and stirks and 321 finished and store sheep.
Auctioneer Andrew Body saw an improved entry of prime cattle that met a little more bite in the trade and better averages on the week.
Demand remains firm for quality cattle.
Top price per kilo was 192p for a Limousin x heifer from Messrs. W.H. & L.M. Williams & Son of Allet purchased by Trevarthens of Roskrow with a 676kg British Blue x heifer from the same farm realising £1,203 to David Ellis of Lelant.
Steers to a premium of 188p/kg for a Limousin x from Messrs. D.G. & S.L. Giles of Paul bought by J.V. Richards Ltd of Perranwell Station with Messrs. Giles’ heavier 695kg steer top value at £1,230 and bought by David King of Exeter.

A fair number of store cattle forward between suckled calf sales. Trade was firm with good demand for a generally quality entry of cattle.
Super steers again this week from Mr. R.E. Richards of St. Keverne saw his 18 month old Limousin x trio top at £1,175!
Four further Limousin x steers at £990 from a cracking run of over 30 mainly Limousins from Mr. H.J. May of Trispen which saw heifers sell to £795.
Overall top heifers were older Herefords for Messrs. H.M, C.S. & M.A. Rowe of Ruan Minor making £880.
A nice run of younger steers for Messrs. F.C. & B.R. Berryman of Pendeen saw Hereford and South Devon crosses to £825.
