The best entry of the autumn which included the 3rd Prize Sale of Suckled Calves saw a huge crowd enthusiastically bidding on all that was on offer.
Prices achieved were excellent.
Highlight of the stores were an entry of 18 month old Limousin x steers from Mr. R.E. Richards of St. Keverne which saw best trio hit £1,045 with a further four at £1,005 and a 13½ month old single Limousin x steer for Messrs. C.R. & I.E. White of Helston making £950.
Store heifers topped at £790 for a 14 month old Limousin x pair for Mr. D.G. Kitchen of Nancegollan.
A single February-born steer to kick-off a sensational run of calves for Mr. G.W. Boundy of St. Columb set the trade alight at £900 and saw half a dozen young steers £800+ and a further 10 over £770!

SPECIAL OCTOBER BEEF BREEDING SALE (34 HEAD)
A fine entry of stock for this special sale with a run of South Devons for Mr. R. Clemens of St. Ervan, Wadebridge (reducing herd numbers) seeing the top price of £1,480 for a Pedigree South Devon cow with her steer calf.
For the same vendor a South Devon bulling heifer realised £1,100 and another Pedigree South Devon cow and steer calf made £1,400.
A run of young cows and calves for Mr. I.G. Michell of Nancegollan, Helston sold to a top of £920 for both a British Blue x cow and steer calf and Simmental x cow and calf.
Other strong prices for Mr. Michell saw £910 for an Aberdeen Angus x cow and calf.
A batch of older Limousin x cows and calves for Messrs. B.K. & E.L. Piper of Sithney, Helston topped at £810 and £770.

The 3rd Suckled Calf Prize Sale met with the best entry yet of over 250 suckled calves for our Special Charolais & Limousin Society sponsored day and a packed ring of buyers with a continued firm trade throughout.
