Last minute tickets are still being sold for our 2019 awards ceremony on Thursday, November 7, which is looking to be extremely popular.

Our judges had a very difficult time this year as the level of entries was so high, with some categories ending up being extensively debated before the winner was decided.

The South West Farmer Awards 2018 winners

However, the final decisions have now been made and we can’t wait to see the winners’ faces when they collect their awards on the night.

Nomination numbers were also high this year and we were especially excited by the amount of them that we received for the Young Farmer of the Year award.

South West Farmer:

Winner of Young Farmer of the year 2018, Gemma Smale-Rowland

This reflects some of the great talent that we have coming into the farming industry and shows a positive picture of the future of farming.

Also very competitive this year was the Diversification award, reflecting the innovative approaches that our farmers are taking to making it work for them in the current climate.

In another first for this year, we stepped up the finalisation process by using video of the finalists at the judging event.

South West Farmer:

The event aims to get everyone together

This enabled our judges to get a real and personal insight into the lives of our finalists and brought a new dimension into their decision making.

The last few tickets for the event are still on sale at £35 per head, and can be ordered by calling Beverley Cox on 01823 365131 or emailing beverley.cox@nqsw.co.uk.

You don’t have to be a finalist to attend the event, it is open to everybody and aims to be a night of celebration of the south west farming community and get everybody together.

South West Farmer:

The event is black tie and is a chance to dress up in your finest outfit, enjoy a champagne reception and a three course meal, socialise and celebrate all that is great about farming in the region.

If you aren’t able to attend on the night, make sure you tune-in to our Facebook and Twitter pages, where we will be posting regular updates throughout the evening as the winners are announced!

The South West Farmer Awards 2019 will be held at the Colin Atkinson Pavilion at Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton, Somerset.
