Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an increased entry of 124 prime cattle met a similar trade, when better cattle were in demand.

Top was 200ppk for a very smart Blue heifer from SER Hunt, Kilve, who also sold a black Limousin heifer at 187.5ppk. Very shapely red Limousin heifer at 195.5ppk from CJM Shackleton, Wiveliscombe. Red Limousin heifers at 191.5 and 182.5ppk from Habberfield Bros, North Newton. A smart run of heifers from TR Michell, Truro, included a Limousin at 181 and a Hereford at 179.5ppk. Other better heifers at 181ppk from RW Darby, Bridgwater and 179.5ppk for a Blue from MP & DM Hine, Northay.

Steers peaked at 196ppk for a very shapely red Limousin from TR Michell again. Further better type red Limousin steers at 189 and 185ppk from Habberfield Bros, North Newton. Adlib Limousins at 188.5 and 178.5 and a Blonde at 180ppk from MJ Tuckett & Partners, Exeter. Smart black Limousin at 183.5ppk from RW Darby, Bridgwater.

Native steers rose to 179.5ppk for an Angus from Brightley Farms, Umberleigh, who sold another at 176ppk.

Steers sold to £1,225.78 for a Charolais from BA Sweet, Congresbury, who sold another at £1,145.10. Limousins at £1,198.40, R & G Speed, Axminster; £1,177.96, TR Michell; £1,159.57, CJM Shackleton and £1,157.97, AJV Welch & Sons, Ashill.

Native steers to £1,161.06 for an Angus from TR Michell. Further Angus £1,155.98 and £1,131.68 from Brightley Farms.

Heifers sold to £1162 for a 581kg Limousin from SER Hunt, who sold another £1125. Heavyweight Limousin heifer (717kg) at £1,161.54 from D & I Dyer, Yarcombe. Further better Limousins at £1,133.90, CJM Shackleton; £1,104.59 and £1,098.86, CJ Sage, Bridport and £1,091.55, Habberfield Bros. Charolais at £1088 and £1,087.25 from RP Tucker & Son, Middlezoy and AAB Rowe & Son, Chilton Trinity.

Native heifers to £1,145.21 for a Hereford from TR Michell.

Smart Blonde cow at 126.5ppk from RJ Marks, Crowcombe and smart Limousin at 122.5ppk from JA & G Aldworth, Cullompton. Further good meat Charolais at 119.5ppk from ER Rosewell, Luppitt and a feeding Charolais also at 119.5ppk from DM Barker, Heathfield.

Native cows at 129.5 and 128.5ppk for Angus from ER Rosewell again. Herefords at 124.5 and 117.5ppk from ML & D Jenkins, Stone, Gloucester. Devons at 119.5 and 188.5ppk from T Eames again and 116.5ppk from SV Jones, Brent Street.

Sucklers sold to £1,135.44 for a Hereford from ML & D Jenkins. Charolais at £1,126.96 from T Eames.

Dairy breeds peaked at 127.5ppk for a really good meat Holstein from R & S Turner, Punknowle, who sold others at 120.5 and 113.5ppk x2. Further good meat Holsteins at 125.5ppk, The Colgrove Partnership, St Austell and 115.5ppk twice from MM & EH Lucas, Puckington. Smart Friesian cows at 124.5 and 114.5ppk, Ireosa Ltd, Winterbourne Abbas; 119.5 and 118.5ppk AJ Gay & Sons Ltd, East Harptree. Danish Red at 118.5ppk from Newley Farm, Bishops Hull.

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report more lambs forward at 868 head sold to a slightly brighter trade for the better quality types, but remaining lacklustre for anything lean. The best sold to 176ppk from HJ & HB Case Ltd. Others 175ppk from CJ Sage; 173ppk from FP Hill & Son; 172ppk from Wallmead Farms Partnership; 170ppk from MT & K Jackson, DM & DM Ginger and J Sprake & Partners Ltd; 169ppk from JE & LP Reason and 168ppk from SL King.
