A Taunton woman woke up to a woolly surprise as two sheep had become stuck in her front garden this morning.

The police flocked to the scene off Chestnut Drive in Taunton at 7.30am as the pair of sheep were on the lam from a nearby farm.

Margaret Stevens, whose garden the sheep had made themselves at home in, said: "It was a bit of a shock I have to admit. My neighbour called me this morning and said 'do you know you've got two sheep in your garden?'

"She couldn't stop laughing as she was telling me. It has been a bit of excitement this morning!"

The police arrived and taped off the area before the farmers could come and collect the missing pair.

The farmers rounded them up and managed to get them on to the trailer and back to the farm.
