The organisers of Dorset County Show are urging rural professionals and agriculture leaders to visit this year’s show for the opportunity to take part in a rare Q&A with NFU President, Minette Batters.

Dorchester Agricultural Society (DAS) returns with its annual show on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8, at the Dorchester Showground in Dorset.

The two-day annual show attracts more than 60,000 people each year and boasts a variety of attractions, livestock, and a greatly anticipated new main ring attraction for 2019. Jason Smyth, ex-world championship motocross rider, and his Adrenaline Tour will take to the main ring to perform a series of live, jaw-dropping stunts.

Minette Batters will be a special guest at the show on Saturday, September 7 and will spend time visiting the different areas. These will include the livestock sections and The Fabulous Food & Farming education area, which allows children to learn about agriculture while they have fun with the different interactive displays.

During the day, Minette will host a meet and greet with NFU members at the show, as well as hold a private reception at 4pm which is exclusively open to members of DAS and Dorset NFU, sponsored by Savills.

For the first time at the show, Minette will round the day off with an interactive Q&A session which will cover topical issues such as Brexit, how it will potentially affect the industry, and what can be done to maintain links with Europe.

Will Hyde, show secretary, said: “Agriculture is still very much at the core of the show and we are pleased to be able to facilitate this opportunity for senior agriculture leaders and rural professionals. We are looking forward to hearing the discussion that comes from the session and hope it provides other farmers with the opportunity to gain insight and have their questions answered.”
