The evening of Bank Holiday Monday saw two tractor fires in Devon.

Crews from Ashburton and Moretonhampstead attended a fire in Reddaford Water involving a tractor which on arrival was well alight.

Crews got to work with two hose reel jets and two breathing apparatus sets attempting to extinguish the blaze. Western Power was requested to the scene due to scorching of some overhead power cabling.

Crews put the fire out and confirmed the tractor completely destroyed. The cause was deemed as accidental.

On the same evening, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a member of the public reporting a tractor on fire at Stoke Gabriel Road, Brixham.

Two fire appliances from Paignton and Brixham and a water carrier from Torquay were immediately mobilised by Fire Control.

On arrival, the incident commander confirmed that one tractor was well alight along with approximately 200 square meters of crop also alight.

Crews got to work to extinguish the fire using two main jets, one hose reel jet and beaters.

The fire caused 100 per cent damage to the tractor and the baler and 100 per cent damage to 200 square meters of crops. Duty of care was left with the farmer.
