With just less than a month to go until this year’s Dorset County Show, the organiser has unveiled the new main ring attraction for 2019.

Dorchester Agricultural Society has revealed that for the first time the main ring will host Jason Smyth, ex-world championship motocross rider, and his Adrenaline Tour which includes a performance of live jaw-dropping stunts.

Dorset County Show is to take place from Saturday, September 7 to Sunday, September 8, at the Dorchester Showground.

The two-day annual show attracts more than 60,000 people each year and boasts a variety of attractions, livestock, and fun for all the family.

Jason’s display promises to provide show-goers with plenty of thrills and spills, crammed with spectacular tricks on both quad bikes and motorbikes. The routine will also include quad freestyle, which is rare in the UK, with huge jumps over ramps and other obstacles.

Attendees are also encouraged to visit The Fabulous Food & Farming Education Area which delivers digestible information on the important role farming plays in our everyday lives and allows children to learn while they have fun with the different interactive displays.

Agriculture is still very much at the core of the show and throughout the weekend hundreds of competitive classes will be taking place for cattle, sheep, goats and pigs, through to homecraft, horticulture and sheep shearing.

Poultry, rabbits and alpacas will also be on show, with falconry displays, scurry racing and the Grand Parade of award-winning livestock.

Food enthusiasts will have the opportunity to try an extensive range of hand-picked catering concessions, each specialising in a different type of cuisine, showcasing local food producers from across Dorset.

New for 2019, the show is introducing ‘Dorchester Street’ to its trade stand offering. This dedicated trade avenue will encourage show-goers to support local businesses, as well as give them the opportunity to discover what’s available in the town throughout the year. High-end country items will also be found in the specialist ‘Shopping@theAvenue’ marquee.

Will Hyde, show secretary, said: “We are so proud of our line-up of attractions and entertainment for this year’s Dorset County Show, there really is something for everyone. We are also pleased to welcome BBC Radio Solent over the weekend which will give visitors the chance to be a BBC radio presenter in the mock studio.

“My team and I specifically put in the time each year to research and ensure our programme of activities appeals to all ages and a variety of interests, while still promoting and celebrating agriculture in Dorset. We are looking forward to giving people one last weekend of family fun to send summer out with a bang.”
