The market report from Sedgemoor Auction Centre for Monday, 29 July is as follows. The total stock was 958 head.

Prime cattle trade 10ppk and lamb trade 12ppk up on the week.

57 Prime and untested forward cattle.

(42) UTM & (15) OTM prime cattle. Auctioneers comments:

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a very small entry of 57 prime cattle met a trade 10ppk up on the week. An absolute flier, particularly considering the dire straits the deadweight trade is in to the “man on the street”.

Top was 210ppk for a near perfect 16m, 547kg red Limousin heifer from H & JL Parker, Stourton, Wiltshire, who sold another similar (17m & 549kg) at 207.5ppk. Another very smart red Limousin heifer at 197.5ppk from SER Hunt, Kilve, who sold another at 191.5ppk. Good black Limousin heifer at 192ppk from J & J Meaker & Son, Langport. Further good red Limousin heifer at 191ppk from Habberfield Bros, North Newton.

Steers sold to £1,305.92 from JF Walker & Partners for a Blue.

Heifers sold to £1,241.00 for a Limousin from J & J Meaker & Son. More clean wanted!

36 Barren cows and cull stock bulls. Auctioneers comments:

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a very short entry of 35 cull cattle, when many more could have been sold to advantage. Trade much dearer, particularly for the bottom end which were near double previous levels.
