Greenslade Taylor Hunt reports a larger entry of 62 prime cattle met a solid trade as it is thought the “Brexit Beef” has gone through the system.

Top was 188.5ppk for a smart red Limousin steer from J & S Vinnicombe & Son, Ottery St Mary, who also topped the heifer side at 179.5ppk, with a similarly well bred type. Lean Limousin steer at 178.5ppk from RJS Winslade & Son, Moorland. Angus steers to 173ppk from S Ford & Co, Blagdon.

Steers sold to £1,191.32 for a Limousin from J & S Vinnicombe & Son. Further heifers rose to 173ppk for a Limousin from MJ Tuckett & Partners, Exeter, who sold another at 170.5ppk.

Good Devon at 171.5ppk from Chilson Dairy Farm, Chard. Angus heifers at 170ppk from AC House & Son, Thornfalcon and 169.5ppk from

RA Reed, Seaton.

Heifers sold to £1,061.42 for a Charolais from A Davey, Bridgwater, who sold another at £1,019.70. Devon at £1,030.72 from Chilson Dairy Farm.

63 BARREN COWS & CULL STOCK BULLS. Auctioneer's comments:

Greenslade Taylor Hunt reports a medium entry of 63 cull cows met a keen trade.

Top was 138.5ppk for a good meat Blue cow from ER Rosewell, Luppitt, who also sold a Devon at 123.5ppk.

Further Devon at 125.5ppk from MT & EA Yeandle, Dorchester.

Whitebred Shorthorns at 123.5 and 120.5ppk from Devon Farming Ltd, Bratton Flemming, who also sold Angus at 119.5ppk twice and 117.5ppk. Hereford at 119.5ppk from ML & D Jenkins, Gloucester.

Sucklers sold to £969.50 for the Blue from ER Rosewell.

Dairy breeds rose to 129.5ppk for a really deep bodied Holstein from Newley Farm, Bishops Hull, who sold another at 127.5ppk.

Good meat Holsteins at 125.5, 123.5, 122.5, 121.5 (x2) 118.5 and 116.5ppk from EV Tranmer & Sons, Claverham; 116.5ppk again from the

Colgrove Partnership, St Austell.

1762 FINISHED LAMBS. Auctioneer's comments:

Greenslade Taylor Hunt reports a much larger entry of 1762 lambs sold to an overall much more difficult trade for all presented, although the best quality, thicker types met the best competition.

The best quality sold to 200, 196, 195 and 194ppk from C Reasons. Others 193, 188 and 187ppk from S & A Bevan; 190ppk from HJ & HB Case Ltd; 189 and 186ppk from DM Ruell; 188ppk from ER James; 187ppk from ER Gillbard and 186ppk from BD Elworthy and JE Quick.

Heavier lambs sold to £100 from ER James. Others £98, £97, £93.50 and £92 from C Reasons; £95 from DM Ruell and BAV & JE Scriven; £94 from S & A Bevan; £92.50 from Brymore Academy; £92 and £91.50 from P Langdown; £91.50 from D & A Mead & Co and £91 from AR Henson (x2) and SGE Hatch & Son.
