A South Devon livestock farmer, Andrew Tall, has won a nationwide competition to win the loan a Farmall 75A tractor with loader from Case IH.

Andrew and his wife own a small livestock farm in Modbury, South Devon, where they manage a flock of 150 early breeding Polled Dorset ewes and rear Hereford and Aberdeen Angus heifers.

Andrew said: “I was looking through NFU Countryside, spotted the competition and decided it was well worth entering. I thought that if I was lucky enough to win it would be good to give my CX80 a few months off! I also knew that the Farmall would prove a useful machine to have on the farm, especially when I get very busy with silaging.”

The Farmall A was delivered to Andrew by Graham Skelton, from local Case IH dealership Dayment and Skelton. “We have worked with Andrew and his family for years, so it was great to be able to hand over the Farmall A and congratulate him on winning the six months’ use of the tractor,” explained Graham. “The Farmall is a very popular choice of tractor in our area - for livestock farmers looking for a more straightforward, mechanical machine - but one that also offers a high level of comfort and manoeuvrability – the Farmall A and C series provide a great choice.”

Andrew does plenty of grass silage work and sells forage to other local farmers, and it is this job, along with regular livestock tasks, that Andrew thinks the Farmall will mainly be employed in during its time on the farm.

“The Farmall will be doing plenty of grass tedding and raking, as well as bale wrapping and stacking,” concluded Andrew. “The compactness of the Farmall will also make it really useful when it comes to cleaning out livestock sheds and general work around the yard; I certainly think it is going to get plenty of work done over the course of six months!”
