Prime Cattle to £1,218.24 and trade better than expected for lambs.

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report numbers remain very tight whilst finishers review their options going forward now that most cattle are turned out to grass.

Top price 197ppk for a Charolais cross heifer (564kgs) and others 194ppk (509kgs) 192.5ppk (562kgs) and 192ppk (545kgs) from PJ Hobbs.

Other notable top prices 196ppk for a smart Limousin cross heifer from RC Rowe & Son, a pair of smart Hereford cross steers with sires sold at 188ppk (648kgs) and 187.5ppk (613kgs) grossing £1,218.24 and £1,149.38 respectively from RW Darby.

Limousin cross steers from W Johnson & Son £1,192.80 (710kgs @ 168ppk) £1,164.90 (660kgs @ 176.5ppk) and £1,149.21 (678kgs @ 169.5ppk) BBx steer at £1,177.52 (718kgs @ 164ppk) from SJB Adams & Son.

35 barren cows and cull stock bulls. Auctioneer's comments:

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report barreners continue to be in short supply and all sold well on the trade and topped at £973.22 (801kgs @ 121.5ppk) for a HF cow, when others from the same farm sold at £912 (760kgs @ 120ppk) £909.08 (713kgs @ 127.5ppk) and £869.61 (707kgs @ 123ppk) from EV Tramner & Sons. Devons to £918.38 (775kgs @ 118.5ppk) from GJ Summerhayes; £850.90 (670kgs @ 127ppk) £853.02 (677kgs @ 126ppk) from TG & A Durston. Charolais to £866.76 (744kgs @ 116.5ppk) £776.02 (644kgs @ 120.5ppk) from GP Tratt Ltd.

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a larger entry of 1294 lambs sold to a much better trade than expected with far lower prices reported at other centres later on last week.

The best sold to 202ppk from R Wall.
