NFU Mutual Truro has appointed new team members and has a fresh new look after recruiting and refurbishing its office earlier this year.

Agents Alistair Murdoch and Paul Hawkins have made a number of new appointments to the agency to allow the business to expand its commercial portfolio and continue to offer exceptional services across rural, personal and motor insurance.

Lisa Hitchens, who joined the team as Agency Manager in 2017, brings a wealth of experience following more than 18 years in insurance. Her business and leadership skills have been vital in developing and nurturing the newer members of the team.

Lisa explained: “NFU Mutual Truro has always provided excellent services and support, but with a clear new focus we are proud to be offering professional insurance services and exceptional customer service to more commercial business customers, including hospitality, and food and drink sectors.

"We’re pleased to have expanded our team to grow the business and continue to provide the very best service we can.”

One of the newest recruits is Customer Service Advisor Rachael Benney, who is also the junior vice chair of Cornwall Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (YFC), an organisation NFU Mutual works closely with to support the next generation of young farmers.

Lisa added: “Rachael was a very strong candidate for the customer service advisor role and her background with YFC was an added bonus, she was a natural fit for the agency and for our farming customers.

Understanding customer’s issues and challenges in this role is essential, and Rachel has sound farming knowledge.”

Rachael said: “I had met some of the NFU Mutual team through my role at Cornwall YFC as NFU Mutual are one of our sponsors. I was really taken aback by how passionate they all were about the industry and decided that I wanted to be a part of that.

“I grew up on a dairy farm in Cornwall and working for NFU Mutual has allowed me to continue to work in the farming industry and specialise in something I’m passionate about, as well as building new skills in areas such as commercial and personal insurance.”

Located on Threemilestone Industrial Estate in Truro, the team has recently enjoyed a complete office refurbishment and is one of the first NFU Mutual agencies to have the company’s new branding.

Lisa added: “We’re really proud of our fresh new look. Everything is brighter and much more welcoming and we encourage people to come in to take a look.”
