One of the biggest challenges facing the poultry sector is accessing labour in the supply chain.
The need for sufficiently skilled, permanent and/or seasonal or temporary labour on farm is important to maintain bird welfare standards, ensure business viability and productivity and to reduce pressure on existing staff.
The NFU is looking to produce several member case studies highlighting the issues shortage of labour can have on poultry farm businesses. These case studies aim to raise awareness about the challenges the sector faces in regards to labour recruitment and retention, as well as feed into ongoing lobbying efforts including the NFU's response to the Immigration Bill.
If you are a poultry farmer who has experienced labour shortages and would like to share your experience, email Hannah Binns (hannah.binns@nfu.org.uk) to request a call back to discuss your case study.
