Young Farmers from across Cornwall will be competing against each other to be crowned the fastest pasty eater.

One member from each of 20 clubs affiliated with the Cornwall Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs will attempt to eat a large steak Cornish pasty, kindly supplied by Warrens Bakery, as quickly as they can.

The event will be taking place at the Royal Cornwall Show.

Cornwall YFC chairman Matt Hosken said: “We’ll be holding heats in the competition and the quickest five pasty eaters will go into the Grand Final where they’ll be given a Cornish cream tea to eat and the fastest will be crowned champion.”

“Our current #Project1000 campaign is all about trying to increase our membership in Cornwall to 1000. At the moment we have over 800 members, which is already an amazing number.

“Cornwall Young Farmers’ Clubs do so much in their local community including raising money for charities. Lifelong friendships are made and there’s opportunity to travel, gain new skills and have a lot of fun too."

The challenge will take place within the Cornwall YFC marquee at the show at 2pm on Saturday 8 June.
