Over the past 15 years Lesley and Roger Prior have built a reputation for quality, top class Superfine Merino wool much sought after by fashion houses and design companies.

They run a flock of 300 Australian Merino sheep at their Oakford home in Devon.

Using imported embryos and semen they have trialled and developed an animal that thrives in the county.

Running sheep for wool requires a different mind-set from the traditional sheep system where wool is a waste product but that apart, sheep are sheep and daily management is very similar to more conventional enterprises.

The main difference is that it is profitable and likely to remain so after Brexit.

Lesley is heavily involved in the international world of wool and has attended and spoken at conferences from Australia to Uruguay. She is a Council member of The Campaign For Wool and has appeared on radio and TV many times to promote wool’s many qualities.

The Exmoor Hill Farming Network will be running a Next Generation Group Meeting at the Prior's Farm and are inviting under 30s and local YFC members. The meeting is on Wednesday May 8 from 7-9pm.

Masons Kings Farm Sight team will also be attending, and will have a John Deere tractor on show complete with receiver, display screen and AutoTrac to show the benefits of technology. Booking is essential.
