Walford Cross, the largest one day machinery sale in the South West, celebrated it's 65th anniversary this year.

At the sale on April 11 in Taunton, the site was bustling with buyers and sellers alike. Up to four auctions were running at once to sell the mammoth entry, with lots all sold in under six hours.

This year’s entry saw the best quality forward that auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt have seen at the long running event attracting buyers from near and far including an exceptionally strong Irish contingent.

A clearance rate of 92 percent was achieved in the machinery section.

Some highlights of the day included a New Holland 6635 tractor selling for £11,600, a 12 plate Land Rover Discovery achieving £13,000 and a New Holland BB940 big square baler realising £8,000.

Auctioneer Tom Mellor commented:"Walford Cross keeps attracting large amounts of stock from all across the South West due to its ability to attract nationwide buyers and year on year quality is improving."
