THREEMILESTONE and District Young Farmers Club's 'Fundraising For Our Future' auction of promises raised more than £8,000.
The auction was held at Griggs Restaurant on Friday 5 April by kind permission of Michael Grigg.
Over 200 bidders made up of friends, family and fellow young farmers were present, resulting in many competitive bidding wars. The funds raised exceeded the committee's expectations. 110 quality lots were donated for sale by club members, local and national companies.
This will make a big dent in the club's £52,000 target, the amount needed to purchase the land which their meeting hall sits on.
One bidder present on the evening said: “many congratulations for the amazing achievements of the members in working towards the money required to purchase the land on which the hall stands.
"We are sure that the auction on friday must have exceeded your expectations. It was evident from the start to finish of the evening that an enormous amount of time and hard work went into the preparation and organisation
of this very professionally run event. "
