SOUTH-WESTERLY gales are predicted to batter Cornwall tonight and again on Friday.
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for wind in place from 10pm today, until 9am tomorrow, which will be accompanied by rain.
Gusts could be up to 70mph around exposed southerly coasts, as the front moves in from northern France.
Another yellow weather warning for wind is in place from midday on Friday until 6pm on Saturday, with gusts expected to once again reach up to 70mph.
Friday's winds will be accompanied by heavy rain, which is expected to die out by early evening, giving way to a more showery pattern.
Driving conditions are likely to be particularly hazardous on Friday morning.
What we expect from a yellow weather warning:
* Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
* Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
* Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
* It’s possible that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities could be affected by spray and/or large waves
