BROADCASTER, former Royal Marine Officer and marine biologist Monty Halls will come to Cornwall to help develop leaders in the county.

CCB Training, part of the Cornwall College Group, announced motivational speaker Monty will be headlining its Developing Leaders conference.

With the uncertainty of Brexit there has never been a better time to ensure you are equipped with the confidence and skills to lead your team or business through change, according to Sally McAuley, Head of Business and Professional at CCB Training.

“With Brexit, potential trade wars, and tectonic change on the horizon, we need to stay focused, motivated, and yet maintain readiness to make the most of new opportunities as they emerge,” explained Monty Halls.

“I am really looking forward to speaking at the Developing Leaders conference to share insight from my Channel 4 series about the world we live in and how to evolve in both our personal and business lives.”

Taking place on Thursday, February 28 (12pm-2.30pm) at The Headland Hotel, Newquay, the conference will address key issues facing any business, how to evolve and adapt in a positive way in a rapidly changing economy.

There is no charge for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or public sector as it is funded through CCB’s Developing Leaders project from the European Social Fund, as part of the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in England.

Monty speaks from experience of leading teams in some of the most remote environments on earth, presenting wildlife and adventure documentaries, and working with blue chip companies both in the UK and overseas.

Developing Leaders project aims to inspire, enhance and engage leadership skills through a suite of courses that can be accredited from Level 2 to Level 5 by the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) or Chartered Management Institute (CMI). All courses are 80 per cent funded subject to criteria.

The funding will be used to provide leadership training for those employed in private and public sectors across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, as well as specific opportunities for women in business to work together.

“This exciting project will not only develop skills for those taking their first steps onto the leadership ladder but also provide opportunities for those operating at a strategic level to work together with other senior leaders across the region,” Sally explained.

"We are delighted to welcome Monty and excited to hear his real life experiences leading and motivating teams,” she added.

Developing Leaders is a three year project ending in May 2021 and Sally urged companies and individuals to attend the event as places are limited or get in contact with CCB to take up this training opportunity while the funding is available.
