Devon County Show has been voted the best event in Devon, according to readers of the Primary Times, a publication aimed at parents of 4-11 years olds and distributed via Devon primary schools.

An online survey, which appeared on the related website over a five week period, invited readers to cite their favourite family-friendly places and people across Devon in various categories. This year saw the greatest ever response to the survey.

Sam Mackenzie-Green, manager of the show said: "We understand our particular category was hotly contested. Given the wealth of attractions across the county that we were up against, we are delighted to have been chosen. Families with primary school aged children are a real target for Devon County Show and we invest a significant area of the showground in attractions designed specifically for this group which are educational, interactive and above all fun.

"Unlike other awards, we didn’t have to nominate ourselves or pay to enter. The results are entirely based on reader nominations and are genuinely organic."

Linda Edwards, publishing editor said: “We are so grateful to our readers for their valued contribution to our Reader Star Awards. The results are incredibly insightful which allows us to take a glimpse into the minds of local people, discovering what the children enjoy most. We would like to applaud all the individual winners and runners-up of each category and congratulate them on their success.”
