Farmers across the south west are invited to specialist calf rearing events taking place this autumn.

The meetings, organised by ForFarmers, will provide dairy farmers with expert advice on how to improve youngstock health and performance. With heifer rearing accounting for the second largest expenditure on dairy farms after feed costs, improving calf and heifer rearing can have a significant, positive impact on increasing a dairy enterprise’s profitability.

At the roadshows key speakers from Zoetis Animal Health will look at combatting calf health threats this winter and the role of vaccinations. Jamie Robertson, Director of Livestock Management Systems Ltd and Honorary Research Fellow at Aberdeen University, will also talk about managing calf housing and environment for improved calf health.

The meetings will take place in Swindon on November 6, before visiting Chichester and Blandford on November 7 and Martock in Somerset and Exeter on November 8. The Martock meeting will take place on farm.

DairyPro points are available for attendees at these events.

The roadshows are free to attend but please register with Emily Hayes on 07825 874961 or emily.hayes@forfarmers.eu.
