A new rural food event is to be launched at this year’s Beef South West. The show which is being held at Westpoint, Exeter, on Wednesday, November 9, will add to its attractions for 2016 by hosting a Farmers Food Fayre. A bespoke list of 52 West Country food producers are being invited to the event, with the emphasis being very much on quality.

Organisers of the event have been attending farmers markets, food exhibitions and through connections of their own have selected an exclusive list of artisan producers whom have been invited to attend. The aim is to offer something special, particularly keeping in mind the festive season, which will be with us soon after the event.

Show Chairman Rob Venner is pictured awarding Malcolm Pyne of Pynes Butchers, with his prize cards for winning last year’s South West Steak and Burger Competition.

Malcolm, whose butcher’s shop is based at North Petherton, just off junction 24 of the M5, saw off fierce competition from across the South West to lift the award for the best beef steak and also the best beefburger.

“It is producers of quality like Malcolm that we wish to encourage and promote at Beef South West and this year’s Farmers Food Fayre is another way of highlighting quality produce available in the West Country,” said Rob.
