DEVON-based organiser, Contour Exhibitions, is seeking to rise above the dreary expectations of 2009 by delivering the 13th annual Westcountry Game Fair bigger and better than ever.
Countryside activities are part of the rich fabric that makes up rural life. From fishing to shooting and traditional crafts, right through to delicious locally produced food, rural life will undoubtedly offer something that appeals to everyone.
It is this diverse appeal that Contour is keen to promote, while drawing attention to the many local producers, traders and craftsmen that rely on the countryside show circuit to survive.
To many of these local traders, countryside shows, such as the Westcountry Game Fair, are a safe haven for their skills and crafts to flourish and be preserved.
Allowing the visiting public, both young and old, to enjoy a taste of everything they have to offer in a friendly and informative environment. The Westcountry Game Fair is amongst the first of the great regional game fairs in the calendar and is set to return in March of 2009. This long established event, regularly attended by over 16,000 visitors, allows those with a passion for rural life to come together in celebration of this special and diverse lifestyle. A wonderful mix of have-a-go activities, fascinating demonstrations and educational insight, this event is the perfect opportunity to fulfil and expand any countryside interest you may have.
The show's features will include an on-site clay shoot, British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) shooting school, BASC air rifle coaching, BASC gundog scurries, terrier and lurcher shows, fly-casting demonstrations and coaching, archery, falconry, racing ferrets, vintage tractors and machinery and new for 2009 a smallholders area with Somerset smallholders.
A game cookery theatre, hosting expert chefs will demonstrate how to prepare delicious meals from traditional game meats.
The show is also full of countryside shopping - guns, fishing equipment, gifts, clothing, paintings, prints, food and much more.
