Farmers from across the South West were celebrating successes at the 2012 Beef Expo at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern last month.
The event, primarily a national technical farming event with an emphasis on beef production, included commercial cattle classes.
Some of the successes from the south west were Mike and Melanie Alford from Cullompton, who took Reserve in the overall Continental Championship with their 15-month-old Limousin sired steer ‘No Likey No Lighty’ The Alford’s daughter, Charlotte, 13, took the Young Handlers’ Championship with their 20-month-old Limousin sired heifer ‘Smarty Pants’.
Jessica Denning, Megan Denning and Hannah Slowan from the South West Aberdeen Angus Club finished third in the Young Show Stars Challenge.
