The Duchess of Cornwall will visit The Royal Cornwall Show on the opening day, Thursday June 7.

It will be her second visit to the Royal Cornwall Show, after she visited alongside The Prince of Wales in 2010 when they were joint Presidents of the show.

The Prince of Wales is Patron of the Royal Cornwall Show and has visited six times, in 1970, 1977, 1984, 1996, 2002 and 2010.

The Diamond Jubilee celebrations will be a key element of this year’s show with a number of stands and exhibitors adopting a Jubilee theme.

Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association (RCAA) chairman, Jonathan Coode, said: “In this Jubilee year, we know that members of our Royal Family have extremely busy schedules so it is a great honour that The Duchess of Cornwall should choose to visit our show.

“She is going to be a very popular visitor.”

Christopher Riddle, show secretary, said the Duchess would find many reminders of the Jubilee during her visit.

“We are the county’s lead jubilee event and there will be a distinct red, white and blue theme noticeable in many areas.

“The flower show, the young farmers and many of the trade stands will be making a great effort. There has also been a schools jubilee arts competition and many of the results will be on display.

“Our promotion for the show says that we are ‘in Jubilee mood’ and I am sure that message will come across in a strong way to every one of our visitors.”
