The Sherborne Castle Country Fair and Rare Breeds Show on Monday, June 4 will have a spectacular foody focus this year with a wonderful selection on offer.

In the Food Hall 26 local producers will show a wide range of wonderful local products, a tantalizing selection of cheese, bread, meat, fish, cakes, ice cream, cider, pies, deli products, smoked products, vegetables and joining them this year see Dorset Farmers market bringing their Demonstration Kitchen trailer along with 20 of their producers who will be next to the Food Hall .

Out and about around the show will be a wonderful selection of food on offer to eat from local companies, pizzas, local cheese ploughmans, soup, hand dived scallops, local ice cream, exotic burgers, hog roast and much more.

The ‘Famous Five - Dorset Chefs’ will join forces with the Dorset Farmers Market mobile demonstration kitchen at the fair this year to provide a culinary extravaganza throughout the day with six cookery sessions.

All five chefs share a passion for quality, local and seasonal produce which is the cornerstone of their cooking.

The chefs are,: Brett Sutton, head chef The Eastbury Hotel Sherborne; Russell Brown, chef proprietor of Michelin stared Sienna restaurant in Dorchester; Mat Follas, Masterchef winner and chef proprietor of the Wild Garlic in Beaminster; Mark Hammick, chef proprietor of the Gaggle of Geese in Buckland Newton and Jean-Paul De Ronne, head chef, food writern and recipe creator at SomersetChef This year sees the Dorset Farmers Market bringing their Demonstration Kitchen trailer along with 20 of their producers who will be next to the Food Hall .

There will be demonstrations given by Brett Sutton, head chef at The Eastbury Hotel in Sherborne and their sous chef Matt Street and a ‘Sourcing Challenge’ between Mat Follas and Russell Brown, with the pair finding their ingredients from producers exhibiting at the fair this year, including a large contingent of traders who are members of the local farmers markets.

There will also be a talk and tasting session given by Giles Henschell of Olives Et Al.

For young budding chefs in Dorset aged under 16-years -old there will be an opportunity to dream up a delicious ‘Diamond Jubilee Challenge Recipe’ to be judged in advance of the show with the two finalists cooking their recipes under the watchful eye of our wonderful Dorset chefs.

The worthy victor will win with a training session at The Eastbury Hotel, donated by Brett Sutton and a hamper filled with delicious locally produced products.

Both finalists will receive a family ticket (2 x adults and three children under the age of 16 years) to attend the fair.
