The magnificent Royal Canadian Mounted Police are the star attraction at this year’s Devon County Show on May 17 to 19. The iconic Mounties are coming to the UK to take part in The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant at Windsor Castle; the only other show they are visiting is the Devon County Show.
Visitors can enjoy a leisurely day celebrating the best the countryside has to offer –magnificent livestock, thoroughbred horses, fantastic local food including bread, cheese, honey, cider and beer and a host of other good things.
There is entertainment in six rings around the showground and there is plenty to interest keen gardeners and flower arrangers as well as crafters looking for tips from lacemaking, knitting, weaving and quilting to sculpting and metalwork – all popular hobbies.
The event is the first of the big food and farming shows of the year and will be joined by Adam Henson from BBC Countryfile who is visiting – and judging -on the first day.
