Final preparations are being made for the third Royal Welsh Grassland event to be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016, only a few days away.

The bi-annual event is this year being held at the prestigious Rhug Estate, Corwen, by kind permission of the Rt. Hon Lord Newborough ARAgS, who will officially open the one-day event at 10am.

Organised by members of the Meirionnydd Feature County, under the leadership of their President W Richard Jones FLAA FRAgS, the 2016 event builds upon the success of previous events in Breconshire and Radnorshire and promises to be a fantastic day offering something of interest to farmers, contractors and the rural public.

There will be over 75 acres of grassland demonstration plots, which will include working machinery demonstrations from over 26 machinery companies travelling to exhibit at the event from across Wales, England and Ireland.

You’ll be able to see examples of different forage crops, grass leys and grass management techniques, as well as bale and clamp silage demonstration, with a specially constructed viewing platform on the silage clamp to make sure you get to see the machinery working to its full potential.

There will also be on display, seven acres of grassland trial plots comprising of 12 different seed varieties, some of which are a new, innovative variety which will survive in low-land areas with high water tables.

The event is also being supported by over 80 tradestands providing the opportunity to see and learn about the latest machinery, grassland technologies and livestock equipment, as well as gaining access to the latest scientific research and having the chance to share knowledge and best practice with fellow farmers and professionals.

The Royal Welsh Grassland Event is on Thursday 9 June 2016, 10am – 5pm, at the Rhug Estate, Corwen.

Chairman of the Meirionnydd Grassland committee, Alwyn Rees, is very much looking forward to the event; “As part of our feature year, Meirionnydd is proud to be hosting the Royal Welsh Grassland Event this year.”
