This year’s Cereals event is offering the widest choice of CPD points yet, reflecting the wide range of technical excellence on show.

A total of 12 exhibitors are offering BASIS points and eight are offering NRoSO points.

BASIS members will be able to claim a maximum of six CPD points per day - two for attending the event and four from the exhibitor knowledge trail. One point is available from each exhibitor.

NRoSO members can claim six points for the whole event – two points for visiting and a further four from the trail. Each participating exhibitor is offering two points.

Both NRoSO and BASIS will use stamp cards this year. NRoSO members can pick up a card from the entrance, participating stands or the NRoSO stand (133), while BASIS members need to sign in at the BASIS stand (447).

Cards will need to be stamped and initialing by the exhibitor on successful completion of their knowledge trail. Completed cards can be returned to BASIS/NRoSO stands or, for BASIS ones only, deposited in collection boxes located at the site exits.

Michele Williams, professional registers manager at BASIS says: “Each year the CPD point trail at Cereals goes from strength-to-strength and 2015 is no different. We’re keen to ensure that our members get the maximum benefit from the trail, which is why we’re encouraging the 12 exhibitors to think of unique and innovative ways for our members to gain their CPD points.”

Examples of how both types of points can be earned include:

AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds (HGCA) – CPD points will be available from the wheat plots, which include a focus on appropriate fungicide choices to minimise resistance risk and impact on the environment.

Water UK, Certis, De Sangosse – these exhibitors have joined forces to focus on metaldehyde stewardship, with a specific aim of keeping pesticides out of water. Members can discuss this with representatives and will need to complete a questionnaire to earn the points.

Bayer – scheme members will need to visit the wheat, barley, OSR and roots areas as well as the pollinators and biodiversity area to discover the answers to a 10-part questionnaire they must complete correctly to secure points.

Cereals 2015 takes place on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th June, at Boothby Graffoe, Lincolnshire. Tickets cost £24 each (£20 for students). Further information at www.cerealsevent.co.uk
